McBURNEY (née Smith) Rose Ann (Roseleen). The family of the late Roseleen McBurney wish to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with and supported them following their recent bereavement.
We are deeply grateful to our extended family, friends, neighbours and all those who called at the family home, attended Roseleen’s funeral, sent Mass and sympathy cards, flowers and messages of condolence, or offered their prayers, support and kindness in so many different ways. We are also grateful to everyone who brought food and refreshments to the family home and helped look after the many family members, friends and neighbours who came to pay their respects. Your generosity, presence and words of comfort were a great source of strength to us and will always be remembered.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Fr Eddie O’Donnell for his spiritual support and for celebrating Roseleen’s beautiful Requiem Mass on the eve of his retirement. We wish him every happiness in his retirement and remain especially grateful that one of his final duties as Parish Priest was to celebrate Roseleen’s funeral Mass.
We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Roseleen’s doctor, Dr Joe Dugan, and to all the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for her during her illness, especially those at the Royal Victoria Hospital, for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Roseleen and to our family.
A special word of thanks goes to Roseleen’s grandson, Ciaran McKenna, who played the whistle at his grandmother’s Requiem Mass, to Bronagh Rea for her beautiful harp music, and to Cara McCann and Hannah McCann for their singing and guitar accompaniment. Their music helped make the celebration of Roseleen’s life particularly personal and meaningful for our family.
We would also like to acknowledge Roseleen’s grandchildren who took part in the funeral liturgy through the Prayers of the Faithful and the presentation of the Offertory gifts. Their participation made their grandmother’s Requiem Mass especially meaningful to us all.
A very special thank you to our dear family friend and neighbour, Maureen Irvine, and to Orlaith McCann, for their exceptional kindness and care throughout Roseleen’s wake. They looked after our family and ensured that everyone who came to pay their respects was warmly welcomed and offered refreshments. We will always be deeply grateful for their kindness and support.
We extend our sincere thanks to Brenda Brown and everyone at PJ Brown’s Funeral Directors, Belfast, for the compassion, dignity, professionalism and guidance shown to our family throughout the funeral arrangements, and to everyone who assisted us at the family home, church, cemetery and afterwards.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our family’s sincere appreciation and gratitude.
Roseleen is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the entire family circle.
Roseleen’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 12 September at 12 noon in St Brigid’s Church, Derryvolgie, Belfast. The Mass will also be available to view via the church webcam.
