McBURNEY (Née Smith) Rose Ann (Roseleen), August 05, 2026 Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of the late William “Billy” McBurney, devoted mother of Marian, Harry (lost in pregnancy), Regina, Audrey, Martin, Fiona, Róisín, Ciarna and Liam.
Much-loved grandmother of Fiona, Áine, twins Seán and Pádraig, Joseph, Eimhear and Niamh, Nialla, Patrick, Stephen and Liam, Jack and Caitríona, Barry and Gareth, Aoibhin, Gráinne and Ciarán, the late Dermot, Patrick and Rory, and cherished great-grandmother of Julia, Alana and Orlagh. Originally from Ross Street in the St Peter’s Cathedral area of Belfast, Roseleen will be sadly missed by her daughters, sons, sons-in-law Canice McGarry, Dr. Joe Dugan, Dr. Paddy Doherty and Dr. Michael McKenna, daughter-in-law Moira McBurney, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends and neighbours. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on her soul.
Roseleen’s remains are reposing at her family home 44 Malone Park from today (Thursday), those wishing to pay their respects are welcome during public viewing from 3.00pm to 9.00pm on Thursday and 11.00am to 9.00pm on Friday.
Her remains will be removed to St Brigid’s Church, Derryvolgie Avenue, Belfast, on Saturday, August 8th 2026, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial alongside her beloved husband in Milltown Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
